The UN "Human Rights" Council – What a joke.

Why do we any of us western countries even give time to this vastly corrupt organisation any more??

from UN Watch site:

Dictators Fidel Castro of Cuba and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus will be celebrating the UN Human Rights Council’s likely adoption tomorrow of a reform package that will see both regimes dropped from a blacklist, while Israel is placed under permanent indictment.

Contrary to all the promises of reform issued last year, the proposal released today by Council President Luis Alfonso de Alba targets Israel for permanent indictment under a special agenda item: “Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories,” which includes “Human rights violations and implications of the Israeli occupation of Palestine and other occupied Arab territories”; and “Right to self-determination of the Palestinian people.” No other situation in the world is singled out — not genocide in Sudan, not child slavery in China, nor the persecution of democracy dissidents in Egypt and elsewhere. Moreover, the council will entrench its one-sided investigative mandate of “Israeli violations of international law”—the only one not subject to regular review after a set term—by renewing it “until the end of the occupation.”

What a travesty of justice. This council is literally thumbing it’s nose, breaking promises they made to improve their game. Well have we seen how much promises from the UN can be trusted. The UN, who were absent action-wise at Rwanda and Sudan, and who are proving to be just as ineffective as Robert Mugabe runs rampant in Zimbabwe.

So here they are giving credence to Castro and Lukashenko, who should be the ones permanently under indictment.

The UN is useless in matters of justice and doing right.

Atheism and the Empty Glass

Ran across this interesting article today.

An excerpt.

Clearly, what a person believes at a deep and pervasive level has an incredible impact on the sort of person one becomes and how one handles life. And the single most important component of a person’s deep belief-structure is his/her answer to “What comes to you mind when you hear the word `God’?”

This is why, all things being equal, atheists are a dysfunctional lot. Studies have suggested that the more secular one is, the more one has difficulties in health, sleep, sexual satisfaction, mood and disposition. And if Bill O’Reilly is correct that the left is increasingly filled with secular progressives, we have one explanation for why they seem to be such a troubled, angry lot. After all, it’s hard to see a glass half full when there’s No One there and nothing with which to fill it.

I know this – having come from a very damaged background, without a belief in the reality of God and the afterlife I would have have definitely committed suicide by now. He (God) has carried me through and has healed me is so many ways, that despite the times when I struggle within with the lies that the evil one tries to get me to believe again, yet I know that He is real. I am struggling right now and would appreciate prayer on my behalf.

Update:

A heartfelt thank you to all of you who have been praying for me. Thank you.
